The Light Source 120 Watt RGBW light engine and control is available for all of our standard LED fixtures.
The Light Source four-color HL Series RGBW Pendant house light offers incredibly rich color as well as a beautifully crafted white. High light output combines with low wattage to create a quality, low maintenance, and energy efficient luminaire. Using only 120 input Watts, the fixture outputs over 6,400 lumens.
The white light is 80+ CRI with 36 white Cree LEDs dedicated to white alone. The colors are created with 117 Cree red, blue, and green LEDs and can be mixed to any color using up to 120 Watts of the RGBW LEDs.
A massive heat sink keeps the LEDs cool, eliminating the need for noisy fans which can cause maintenance issues down the road.
Flicker-free lighting that smoothly dims from 100% to 0% is an outstanding feature of these made in the USA fixtures.
ETL listed, the HL Series RGBW pendant is available in beam angles of 80 degrees, 65 degrees, and 52 degrees. Wireless control is also an option. Fixtures come in black, but can be customized in your choice of anodized color.
Four Channel Control Mode
The Light Source RGBW system requires only four DMX control channels for 8 bit intensity operation.
Channel 1 is intensity. Zero is off with the brightness increasing as the level rises. Full is maximum brightness.
As the color DMX channels are increased from zero, the colors begin very pale, then become pastel, and then deepen as the DMX color channel level increases until maximum saturation is reached.
Channel 2 is Red. Zero is no red. Full is maximum red saturation.
Channel 3 is Green. Zero is no green. Full is maximum green saturation.
Channel 4 is Blue. Zero is no blue. Full is maximum blue saturation.
White is produced when the intensity DMX channel is brought up and there is no color added, (RGB at zero); or when all three colors are at full, (RGB at full.) (This is similar to an arc lamp fixture with variable color wheels for the colors. With all the color wheels set at zero, white is produced.) The white light is produced by white LEDs, not by color mixing.
To mix a color, bring the intensity to full, (or to any other level of brightness.) Add any mixture of red, green, or blue until the color desired is produced. As the red, green, or blue DMX channels are increased from zero, the colors begin very pale, become pastel, and then deepen as the DMX color channel level increases. When any single red, green, or blue DMX channel is brought to full, the entire 120 Watt power budget of the light fixture is outputting only that color. 120 Watts of just red, green, or blue can create very intense, deeply saturated colors. The entire 120 Watt power budget of the light fixture is available in all 16,777,216 different color hues that the fixture can create. This assumes that the controller is capable of outputting DMX levels from 0-255. There are still 1,000,000 color hues available with a DMX board that uses 0-100 for DMX levels. Set the brightness of the created color by varying the intensity fader. Save your favorite color palate libraries for future use.
To fade up a scene in a color, preset the red, green, or blue color DMX channel levels before bringing up the intensity channel for a scene. This presets the light fixture color while the fixture is off. Then bring up only the intensity DMX channel to illuminate the scene, leaving the DMX color levels constant. The same principle would apply to fading out of a scene. Just fade out the intensity channel, and leave the red, green, or blue DMX channels at their preset levels. Add a bit more red to the blackout preset and allow the fixture to emulate the incandescent red color shift as the intensity fades up to the premixed color, or fades out the blackout preset.
Colors can be morphed into other colors over time, with or without varying the intensity. Colors can also be instantly changed into other colors, with or without varying the intensity. Try these out in rehearsal first to be sure the effect is desirable.
Five Channel Control Mode
The Light Source RGBW system requires only five DMX control channels for 16 bit intensity operation.
Channel 1 is the coarse intensity adjustment.
Channel 2 is the fine intensity adjustment.
Zero on both channels is off.
The brightness increases as the levels rise. Full on both is maximum brightness.
Channel 3 is Red. Zero is no red. Full is maximum red saturation.
Channel 4 is Green. Zero is no green. Full is maximum green saturation.
Channel 5 is Blue. Zero is no blue. Full is maximum blue saturation.
All other operations are the same as the 4 channel control mode.
